Welcome to the inaugural year of Train2Play Basketball. Spring 2023 will be our official first tournament season, and we cannot wait to start. This is our first year as an organization, but we have decades of combined coaching and playing experience. We have seen the good, bad, and ugly of youth athletics, and as a result, we have come up with a clear perspective on the organization we aim to build. We plan to develop a highly competitive organization that positively affects our players' lives.

What does Success look like?

Success comes when you focus on doing things the right way—decisions we've made:

1) Start Small and build on success. Too often, organizations grow too fast and spread themselves too thin. Our approach is to create one great team; our first team is the 2023 15 U Boys team. Focus all our attention on the ten boys making our first team roster.

2) Professional coaching. It is hard to coach and even harder to find good coaches. Our philosophy starts with excellent coaching. Our head coach Troy Anger exemplifies what it means to be a coach. Coach Troy's love for the game began in the Early 80s as a 15U athlete himself. He played ball for the Air Force and has consistently coached since the early 90. Coach Troy's passion for the game is only overshadowed by his desire to see our kids make the most of their abilities and opportunities. Coach Troy is a coach's coach; he is a student of the game and always looking to master the craft.

3) Culture is essential, and it starts with holding ourselves, our athletes, and our fans to the highest levels of integrity.

  • We are "accountable to and for each other."

  • We "set the bar higher" and push ourselves to be better.

  • We have a "next play mindset"; we don't complain, bad calls don't affect us, missed shots are all in the past, and we move forward, never back.

  • We "leave it on the court" from the tip to the final buzzer; we compete hard, but when the game is over, win or lose, we leave it on the court; we shake hands, congratulate if we lose, and appreciate the challenger if we win.

There is a lot more to come as we prepare for Spring Basketball. If you are a 15U basketball player looking for a competitive team or a parent looking for a program for your son, reach out.
